Healthcare needs? Affordable Healthcare Simplified – The 5 Key Things You Need to Know
Don’t let the names confuse you. Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were different names for the same thing. Selecting a new health care plan can seem like a big challenge but there are people out there who can assist you. Leticia Mejias, co-owner of M&M Insurance Associates, said there are five primary things to know about the former Obamacare and current Healthcare:
- For those who are worried about the costs associated with the coverage, the first thing you need to know is that if you want to see if you qualify for a subsidy, you must first have earned income.
- The best thing to bring with you when you come in for help setting up your health care plan is a tax return. Or make sure that you have the full names, Social Security numbers and birth dates for everyone applying for insurance.
- If you are a resident with immigration status, you must bring proof of that. Naturalized citizens will have to supply their certificate numbers and residents will have to provide their visa numbers.
- The process takes time. Mejias advises individuals to plan to be in her office for about an hour. People generally have lots of questions.
- If you created a login last year, be sure to bring that information with you when selecting your plan for this year. If you cannot remember your information, the staff is happy to help you find it.
